Here’s a little ditty I did for my friend, environmentalist and community organizer, Mike Fox. An identity for an event organized to discuss the food chain, or lack thereof, in North America… with a local twist. With our distributed logistics in the food sector, grapes from South Africa, fish caught here off Nova Scotia yet weirdly packed in China, we are vulnerable to disruption on many fronts. To imagine that we have any more than 3 or 4 days of food supply on hand at any one time is to indulge in fantasy. Once a panicked population empties the local food stores, what then? “Back to the land!” you might say, as you headed out to this conference. For those of us who remember hippies, it’s déjà vu all over again.
