Back in ’95, when the world wide web was young, I came up with this logo for my Christmas shopping site, Joy to the World Wide Web at joytotheworld.com. The local paper, the Newmarket Era-Banner bought into the idea (thanks to then editor Bruce Annan) and it was sold to a few of the nearby communities too. The concept, for the newspapers at least, was to introduce the community retailers (and the newspaper reps who catered to them) to the idea that the web was coming. Boy, did any of us have any idea??
The site featured local contests for decorated homes, feature articles on festivals and shopping around the world and places for local stores and shops to advertise. I loved doing it, even put my son into the navigation as an elf… fun then, even more humourous now.
